Paving- and Concrete-Related Questions

Why is my asphalt deteriorating?

Sunlight, rain, and extreme temperatures, plus the weight of vehicles, can lead to the deterioration of asphalt.

When can I safely walk and drive on my new asphalt?

You should wait at least 24 hours before walking or driving on new asphalt. Some commercial asphalt projects may require more time, however.

When can I safely walk and drive on my new concrete?

You should wait 28 days, because that is how long it takes for concrete to cure. If you can’t wait 28 days, do wait at least 24 hours before walking on new concrete and at least one week before driving on it.

How long will my new asphalt parking lot last?

Asphalt parking lots can last for 10-20 years if they are properly maintained. Sealcoating must be done within 1-2 years of re-paving and every 3-5 years thereafter.

Can concrete be poured year-round, even in cold weather?

Concrete is best poured when the outdoor temperature is between 50 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Concrete can be poured year-round if the temperature is right. Certain additives can also make concrete suitable for pouring in hotter or colder weather.

Will my new asphalt or concrete match the existing pavement?

Yes. We will use washes and stains to match the wear on your existing concrete.

What is cement-treated aggregate?

Cement-treated aggregate is a delicate mixture of aggregate material and/or granular soils combined with measured amounts of portland cement and water. After compaction and curing, it hardens to form a durable paving material.
